Every eco-fashionista should hang their sustainable wardrobe with Ditto Recycled Hangers. The San Francisco Bay Area-based company specializes in clothing hangers and display products that made from 100% recycled paper and 100% recycled PET plastics. Recycled, recyclable and non-toxic, Ditto Hangers also appeal to the artistic, offering designer-printed models, custom printing options, and have even supported the arts with customized pieces by contemporary artists.
Unlike the infamously undesirable wire hangers , Ditto hangers are free of heavy metals, chlorine and formaldehyde, which is commonly present on both fabric and paper attachments on hangers. These chemicals not only harm the environment, but can be transferred to your clothing, putting your skin in contact with the toxins.
Using soy-based inks and starch-based adhesives, the hangers couldn’t get any more environmentally sound- and the best part is they are themselves recyclable! One ton of virgin paper consumes 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil and 4,000 kw of energy, in addition to 7,000 gallons of water. Ditto helps eliminate this burden by using 100% recycled paper , saving trees as your hang up your favorite shirt. They also take up less closet space!
When traditional clothes hangers break, into the landfill they go, but did you realize that a whopping 8 BILLION hangers are dumped into landfills each year? That’s enough to fill 4.6 Empire State Buildings from basement to the famed observation deck! That is around 15 million each day. Ditto’s recycled hangers may seem like a simple step, but their impact on the environment and landfills is a great one.
