13 Ricrea Recycles Shoe Manufacturing Waste into Colorful “Pouf” Seating

by Diane Pham, 01/14/11

13 Ricrea, recycled Latex, Pouf seating, recycled furniture, upcycled furniture, green seating

A seat with a footprint – and we’re talking the good kind! Designed to make use of all the latex waste produced by the Italian shoe industry each year, 13 Ricerca transforms leftover rolls of the material into interesting, ergonomic and comfortable pieces of seating. From a textile originally used for the production of shoe insoles, the cutaway design also curiously captures the multifunctional nature of the tensile material. Each seat measures approximately 22 inches high and  22 inches wide, and is available in black, lilac, green and sand.

This is genius! It also reminds me of the bright orange material they use for zoning off road construction sites but probably much more comfortable. +_+

Less waste in the landfill. The colors make the seats great for children’s play spaces. These seats fit well with what trope group sell.
