Thanks for your feedback everyone. We thank you for your watchful eyes and hope you find the updated article to be a great source of information about the holes in the argument of the activists that released this study. Thanks for reading Inhabitat and we apologize for the initial oversight.

Thank you all for writing in with these comments - upon conducting further research into Janette Sherman and Joseph Mangano's study we have found that it lacks evidence to prove that 14,000 US deaths were caused by radiation from the Fukushima nuclear plant. As the editor of this article I apologize for for the oversight and I have amended the article accordingly.

Everyone - we see your comments and we want to apologize for our oversight. When we originally reported on this story, we didn't do enough research but further investigation into the study conducted by Janette Sherman and Joseph Mangano shows that it lacks evidence to prove that 14,000 US deaths were caused by radiation from the Fukushima nuclear plant. We have adjusted this article accordingly. Thank you for your understanding.

Nuclear has never been called renewable till now as uranium is a finite source thus not renewable. The debate is to whether or not its safe. Please get your facts right.

I am a nuclear engineer. The Fukushima was indeed a very serious accident, but to say that it had ANY effect on the US is totally bogus.

This article is 100 percent false.

Did I miss something super obvious, or is the peer reviewed study mentioned and not cited? When making claims of this significance, it's important to have the publishing info obvious, otherwise it's easy to dismiss as exaggeration. Radiation.org does not cite the article either, although they also mention it.
