Gallery: 14th Century Favrholm Farmhouse Receives a Green Injection fro...

In order to protect views of the historic farmhouse, SeARCH architects tucked part of the convention center into the embankments.

The conference center includes an auditorium, a restaurant, conference rooms, guest rooms, and sport and fitness facilities. These are designed to accommodate employees of the nearby insulin factory in addition to international guests. Out of deference to the cows who make the life-saving insulin possible, the designers created meetings rooms shaped like cow ears (or leaves).

These rooms are built into the embankments with windows facing the lake, enhancing the building’s green aesthetic. Novo Nordisk has long pioneered clean-energy projects for their facilities, and this conference center will be no different. Additionally, optimum indoor climates that minimize energy use result in sustainable renovation at its best.
