Following the deaths of 1,127 garment workers in the Rana Plaza building collapse in Bangladesh on April 24, more than 40 of the world’s leading apparel brands have signed the Accord on Fire & Building Safety in Bangladesh. This accord holds the clothing companies legally accountable for safety and labor conditions in the factories they employ in the South Asian nation.
