You can always expect the unexpected at Euroluce, an international lighting exhibition that has been illuminating Milan Design Week every year with its innovative design concepts. From making heavy rocks appear to levitate in thin air to coaxing a warm and soft character out of cold metal, these cutting edge lighting fixtures investigate new uses of conventional materials and push the boundaries of design. Alberto Saggia & Valerio Sommella – Kushi Table and Kushi Suspension (2015)
Kushi lamps—available as a table lamp or a suspension lamp—are opal diffusers made of two layers of mouth-blown glass. Kushi’s evocative shape, smooth curves and metallic stalk are suggestive of an apple.
Arturo Alvarez – Blum Floor Lamp (2015)
The motto of this project is “not everything is what it seems.” Surprisingly, this light diffuser, which appears warm, soft, and cozy, is actually made from stiff and cold steel.
Arturo Alvarez – Icarus Wall Lamp (2014)
Arturo Alvarez defines his work as emotional light. Icarus wall lamp is a great example of his design philosophy. This solar disc is made of infinite interior dissimilar movements for an eye-catching effect. The lamp casts a powerful and uniform light that expands in all directions to illuminate a space.
David Abad – Keshi
Keshi is a set of elegant table lamps made with marble bases and wire metallic tops.
Harry Thaler for Davide Groppi – Edison’s Nightmare 2014
Edison’s Nightmare is a classic bulb nailed to the wall. This work of art symbolizes the change and evolution in the world of lighting design and lighting technology.
Andrea Bastianello for Disegnoluce – Stones
Are these heavy and massive stones actually floating in the air? That’s the illusion achieved by Andrea Bastianello, who made these artificial stones out of fiberglass.
Ferruccio Laviani for Foscarini – Supernova (2000)
Designed by Italian architect Ferruccio Laviani for Foscarini, the Supernova pendant lamp provides a 360-degree range of ambient illumination. The fixture consists of 14 circular aluminum or steel disks that form a louvered sphere.
Icone – Spillo 1i
Spillo 1i is a built as an LED wall or ceiling lamp and has an adjustable drawn brass rod. The light is available in various dimensions and power levels.

Spillo 6 is a dynamic composition of minimal and abstract metallic sticks equipped with LED micro-strips.

Lua is a collection of minimal and elegant lighting solutions and is available as a table, floor, wall or suspension lamp.
Jo Hammerborg for Light Years – Orient (1963/2013)

The Orient pendant is a flawless light design with good luminous efficacy and made from the finest quality materials. Jo Hammerborg created the pendant light in 1963, however the Lightyears collaborated with the Hammerborg family to introduce a new version of the light. The organic mode of expression beautifully connects the deep, vibrant copper glow and the rosewood top.
Luta Bettonica for Cini & Nils – Acqua
Acqua is the new design by Luta Bettonica for Cini & Nils. Its basic component is a sinuous water drop housed in the concave side of the lighting spot. The locking system offers and quick and easy way to dock each droplet to another and gives rise to infinite structural design configurations.
Luta Bettonica for Cini & Nils – Formala
Selected by Vitra Design Museum for Lightopia exhibition, Formala is innovative lighting design solution. Flexible metallic stripes of this dimmable diffuser can be positioned in a myriad of ways.
Panzeri – Golden Ring
Golden Ring is a great made-in-Italy design that features organic forms and was developed to illuminate large spaces. It is a set of aluminum suspension lamps of 770, 1200, 1800, and 3000 cm in diameter. The collection offers an endless number of possible combinations between single rings.
Estefania Johnson for Quasar – Lum
Lum, made of natural oxidized copper, is a lamp that appears as a slightly deformed wall finishing.
