2013 Chevy Volt Gets a New “EV Hold Mode” and Styling Updates

Word on the street today is that General Motors [4] will be updating the 2013 Chevy Volt [5] plug-in hybrid with some styling upgrades and a new “EV Hold Mode” that will allow the Volt to stay in electric-only mode longer in slower city traffic. The “EV Hold Mode” forces the Volt to use its range-extender engine at higher speeds, like on a highway, which then reserves the battery power [6] for slower speeds.
The “EV Hold Mode” is already standard on the Volt’s European sister vehicle, the Opel Ampera [7]. Drivers still also have the choice of normal, sport and mountain modes.
On the outside, the 2013 Chevy Volt [8] is ditching the black roof and rear liftgate on the current model for parts the same color as the body. The 2013 Volt will also get new tech features like a lane departure warning system, forward collision alert and the addition of MyLink to the Volt’s navigation system.
It’s being reported that the 2014 Chevy Volt will get more significant updates.
