Muir Trail Hut stands at 12,059 feet within California’s rocky peaks, and is one of the trail’s greatest landmarks. Built in 1930 by the Sierra Club of California, this humble-yet-strong shelter is built from local stone, and blends perfectly into the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Dovecote Studio on the Suffolk coast is built inside the shell of an old Victorian dovecote. Designed by Haworth Tompkins Studio, this highly contrasting shelter now houses the Aldeburgh Music School‘s studio.
