Nearly ten years have passed since the devastating September 11th attacks, and much contention has swirled around the re-design of Ground Zero. With all discord finally placed aside to mark the decade passed, New York officials are planning a day long vigil on September 11th that will also include the opening of the highly anticipated 9/11 Memorial. Designed by architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker, the memorial takes on a space that inspires contemplation and remembrance. With a green design highlighted by a plaza filled with trees and two reflecting pools sited where the twin towers once stood, New York’s next iconic landmark is one to be revered.
