Gallery: A Green Guide to Sustainable Skivvies!

Let’s face it- Valentine’s Day isn’t really about the romance anymore- it’s about the chocolate, the Hallmark cards, and of course, the sexy lingerie. But sexy and sustainable aren’t mutually exclusive- in fact the most sexy skivvies are the ones that are so organic and natural they feel like a second skin. Here are a few tips to green your boudoir attire…

ENAMORE SOY AND SILK LINGERIE Enamore the sexiest of sexy underthings, made from sustainable materials such as hemp, organic cotton, silk, and soy. We love their coquettish black and white Jezebelle collection.

MYA RECYCLED PINE UNDERTHINGS Can you believe these sexy undergarments are made from recycled white pine-tree pruning? As soft as silk with the feel of cashmere, these sustainable skivvies, which are made in a small village in France, will take you ‘back to nature’ in no time.

VICTORIA’S SECRET ORGANIC COTTON COLLECTION- Spring 2008 Last but not least, there’s always Victoria Secret. You may know it, but the underwear uberchain is jumping the green bandwagon as well. Under the umbrella of their Victoria’s Dirty Little Secret campaign, the lingerie powerhouse is launching an organic cotton line VERY soon- if your lady is patient, preorder her some organic cotton skivvies.

Alot of those eco lingerie pieces are really expensive (except for AA). I have two affordable choices, on Make you own eco lingerie for less then a few bucks $$, here is a link to the DIY project :

Or if you don’t feel very crafty, I sell affordable organic & vinatge fabric lingerie @ http://www.theokobox.com – super cute stuff made by small and unknown designers :)

Love this! I’ve been hearing a lot about eco-friendly skivvies lately. I get this newsletter called BeThree and they talked about these undies and also natural lube for women, which I think is a great idea.http://bethree.com/2008/02/12/belovin-week-im-bringing-sexy-back/

Bamboo underwear is way better than organic cotton, moisture wicking, antibacterial (good for women prone to UTIs and yeast infections ;)

    Fred Thompson-

If you actually took the time to read the article above you would see that NONE of the above products are made in third world countries and shipped overseas. American Apparel is made in the U.S., MYA is made in France, Enamore is made in the UK. The only possibly suspect brand above might be Victoria Secret, and that line isn’t even out yet. Nice use of the made-up word ‘finestest’ though!

    Hows that campaign going?

  7. Fred Thompson February 15, 2008 at 2:07 am

Very sexy, nice concept. However, how is this considered “green deign” or “sustainable” when many of the brands listed above are made in third-world countries where there are no regulations and then the products are shipped (via) cargo ship across the pacific ocean, burning thousands upon thousands of fossil fuel in the process. Greenwashing at it finestest. Mass consumption will never be considered sustainable!

A friend of mine, Kate, has a recycled clothing line, sold at her store in New York City, AuH2ODesigns.com. She literally recycles clothing to create a new, sustainable fashion.
