Gallery: A Long Vertical Garden Spruces Up FVArquitectos’ Renovated Hou...

We love the floating staircases and room dividers on the lower level

A 563 square foot block house, the House in Estoril is actually quite bland at first glance given its rectangular shape and masculine interior organization. But the green wall gives it some character and improves biodiversity and air quality while also creating an extension of the wooded plot and two gardens.

The lower level is used for socializing and features timber room dividers and a floating staircase that leads to the more intimate upper level. Most of the materials used are warm and natural, apart from a stainless steel kitchen, and large windows permit plenty of natural light to reach into all corners of the residential program. If you like this, then you might enjoy another FVA project that boasts more than one green wall.

I don’t understand these cantilevered stairs with no railings – don’t these people ever drink!?
