David Adjaye’s first US commission, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, is still on target to receive LEED Gold Certification once it is finished, making it the first LEED Certified museum in the country. The 27,000 sq.ft museum will feature a roof garden to be designed by Artists Kim Dickey and landscape architect Karla Dakin, which should increase the insulation levels and help stabilize the temperature in the building. It will also use 40 percent less energy than a standard building. Check out the renderings, created by Studio Yli Suvanto.

The Grand Rapids Art Museum in Michigan has a museum expansion project that opens to the public in October. It is also up for LEED Certification, although, it is not specified at what certification level.

Just curious why you changed the glass. The rendering is a bit decieving because it does not reflect the infill develpment that has occured around the museum. The museum is no longer an object in the landscape but part of the street facade. The luminocity of the frosted looking glass created quited a different atmosphere than the smoked does. Still excited about the building, just wondering about the reason for the change.
