You mentioned that the Edison2 car only achieved 102 MPG but there is a version of their Very Light Car (VLC) which has been modified to use an electric drive train. This electric powered car achieved 250 MPGe. Edison2 has been roundly criticize for winning the Automotive X Prize because they eschewed electric drive. There was a good reason for this. The Automotive X Prize rules were inadvertently biased against electric cars in the mainstream class. This was because the mainstream class required a range of 200 miles. Perhaps the X Prize committee set the range bar very high in an effort to force a technological breakthrough in battery chemistry. Notice that Illuminati claims a 200 mile range and not a centimeter more. Would they have been able to achieve a 200 mile range during the X Prize if they had not broken a clutch? We will never know. Keep in mind that I'm not dissing the Illuminati team at all. I think these guys are heroes and the Automotive X Prize rules were biased against them. I was dismayed at all the criticism aimed at Edison2 after the awarding of the X Prize. These guys achieved a lot and now they DO have an electric version of their car.

Oh, yeah, and the Very Light Car has a range of 600 miles "on average" versus 200. Sorry, Illuminati, you fail. When you can drive 600 miles, call us back.

Using MPGe is misleading. This electric. Just tell us how many miles per charge at what constant speed. My Elantra will go 420 miles on a full tank.

I would still choose the Very Light Car of this thing. Though 129 MPGe may be paltry compared to the this retro car, at least it can fill up in 5 minutes and get your across the country.

with the exception of the hood, the cars shape is almost identical to the Hispano Sueze Dubonnet which was done in 1938 without wind tunnels.
