Agency of Design’s New Energy Trumps Cards Identify Environmental Properties of Different Materials

We showcased Agency of Design [4]‘s prototype cO2 card [5] in the past, and the firm just played a winning hand by launching a full suite of Energy Trumps [6]! The deck of cards aims to help designers and consumers create and buy more environmentally sound products by identifying the environmental properties of 45 different materials. Each card presents key information so that producers can choose between materials in a fast and practical way.
The cards are a great resource for designers, as they provide quick answers to important questions regarding a given material’s embodied water, years of reserves, and recycled content. The London-based design team have also launched an accompanying app that allows users to explore the voume of each material that could potentially be manufactured with a megajoule of energy.
