Kroon Hall in New Haven Connecticut was chosen based on its highly insulated skin, exposed thermal mass, and prefabricated elements. The glue-laminated arches, interior wood paneling, and window assemblies, were all fabricated off-site.
All of the projects the AIA chose show remarkable achievements in the areas of community, bioclimatic design, daylighting and air quality, good use of healthy materials, and great design for adaptability, versatility, and durability. In other words, everything that you would be looking for in a kick ass green architecture project.
