Alfa Romeo has developed a new concept sports car called the 4C that shines a bright green light on the Italian automaker’s future. The company, which has been making the gorgeous 8C Competizione counterpart for several years now, has historically focused entirely on performance. However, with their new 4C, the automaker’s new stylish green endeavor tells us that Alfa Romeo is kicking their rides into high gear, ready to hit a truly sustainable destination.

The Alfa Romeo 4C tips the scales at only 1,874 pounds, and only needs 241 horsepower–half the horsepower of the 8C–to get from 0-60 in under 5 seconds. And the best news for green-loving drivers is that the mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive 4C is expected to be as fuel efficient as some economy cars — we have yet to see a super-efficient car as beautiful as the 4C and would love to see Alfa Romeo pull this off.

The 4C will go into production later this year, so we won’t have to wait long to see how this green dream plays out.
