Algae is already being developed into biofuel, but it's neat to see new applications with paper-thin biodegradable batteries. If you’re interested in alternative energies or green technologies, check out http://www.greencollareconomy.com. It has hundreds of case studies on emerging green technology. It's also the largest b2b green directory on the web.

I am totally interested in learning more about algae battery technology. Would this not also reduce the number of trees used in paper batteries?

This is good news- too often, engineering with algae is discussed in the context of using it to produce bio-fuels. The entire idea of bio-fuels, I think, is really just a subterfuge for the desire of politicians to do nothing.

It's great that they can make good batteries out of the stuff, especially because better batteries are one of the chief technical hurdles we have to clear to solve the intermittency problems of solar and wind energy.
