We’re still energized from the success of our Webcast Editors Roundtable yesterday, and we’re thrilled to announce the next installation of Green Talks this coming Monday! On Monday, October 19, at 2:00pm EST, Inhabitat founder and editor-in-chief Jill Fehrenbacher will be moderate a live conversation with USGBC Vice President Tom Hicks on greenbuilding practices, LEED and the USGBC. The second installment in our series of Green Talks will provide an inside look at the USGBC, exploring advances and initiatives that are driving sustainable building both stateside and abroad. This presentation and discussion is sure to be really thought provoking, and we want YOU to join us!
Following a distinguished career with both the United States Navy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in which he spearheaded programs including the Energy Star commercial building rating system, Tom joined the ranks of the USGBC in 2004 to oversee the development of the LEED certification program. As Vice President of LEED, Tom delivered a three-fold increase in activity in his time at the helm. Later shifting to the role of Vice President of International Programs, Tom has taken international LEED participation from just 25 countries to 115 in only two years. With the experience gained over the course of an incredibly influential career, we’re looking forward to exploring Tom’s thoughts on the past, present, and future of green design, architecture, and construction. And most importantly, we can’t wait to learn more about Tom’s latest strategic venture – the Building Performance Initiative, a program designed to bring ongoing accountability to LEED.
