And now for the moment you've all been waiting for! Last month we announced the talented finalists who made it through the final cut in our Stop the Paper Towels graphic design competition - our quest to find the most inspiring graphic to print on reusable cloth PeopleTowels. Thousands of you voted for your favorite designs, and in the end we narrowed it down to three lucky winners - one Judges' Choice winner, one Popular Choice winner, and one Runner Up. Our winners will all receive amazing cash prizes and will have their design printed and sold on PeopleTowels. Dying to find out who won? Click on the jump to check it out!
Graphic designer, photographer, artist, and garden designer John Gray’s simple but powerful design graphically depicting the growth rings of a tree charmed our panel of judges, scoring him their vote.
POPULAR CHOICE: Cotton Forest by Luciana Simon
Freelance designer Luciana Simon’s to-the-point design asking us to “please turn to cotton” instead of paper towels received a whopping 659 reader votes, crowning her the Popular Choice winner.
RUNNER UP: This is Not a Paper Towel by Tiz Abbott-Donnelly
Product designer Tiz Abbott Donnelly’s eye-catching design lets the world know that it isn’t a paper towel, and we want to let her know that she won the title of runner up!
Towels printed with the winners’ designs will then be available for purchase at the Inhabitat Shop and PeopleTowels.com just in time for Earth Day 2011, so stay tuned! Congrats to all of our winners and many thanks to PeopleTowels and all of our judges – we hope that this competition makes you think twice next time you to pick up a paper towel!
