by , 12/06/11

eco-fashion, ethical fashion, green fashion, Green Gift Guide, Sustainable Fashion, sustainable style, green gift guides, psfk rebuttal, are green gift guides bad for the environment, green design, eco design, sustainable design

At Inhabitat, we’ve proud of our Green Holiday Gift Guide, and here’s why: We’ve long believed that it’s critical to encourage consumers to vote with their cash and support ethical businesses that make the world a better place, while boycotting unethical brands that pollute our environment and make crappy toxic products. However PSFK editor-in-chief Piers Fawkes disagrees – in an editorial called “Tis the Season to Avoid Green Gift Guides,” Fawkes slams Green Gift Guides and issues a warning to green publications that run gift guides during the holidays, saying “The green media needs to stop telling people to buy stuff that’s labeled organic or BPA-free and they need to start helping people identify who is at fault here so that people can actively lobby the companies folks buy from, or the employers people work for.” Hmmmmm…. (and ouch…)

What do you think? Does he have a point? Do you hate our gift guide? Read on for our take on the topic of green gift guides, and let us know your thoughts!
