The original 42 sq meter plot included a patio at the entrance; one room downstairs comprising the kitchen, dining and living room; and one bedroom upstairs. A new two-story addition to the home was built with recycled [7] red tin and provided space for an interior stairwell, a bathroom downstairs, a master bathroom upstairs, plus additional storage. Buenos Aires [8]‘ mild climate made creating a space with thin walls and minimum materials possible.

Recycled translucent acrylic is used as the roof for the upstairs bathroom, letting in tons of daylight [9] into the space – albeit in a hue of yellow. Other materials taken from the house before the renovation were used in the new addition to create new interior furnishings, and they ranged from the closet, to the lavatory, to the laundry, to a flower pot. The downstairs room was outfitted with a new folding window to open the space up to the outdoor patio and extending the living space when the weather is nice.
