Gallery: Artist EVOL’s Rural City Installation Tops Off a Scale Communi...

The artist's friends tag their name.

EVOL along with a his friends and helpers worked for 8 days cutting away at the meadow where they then buttressed the walls with particle-board sheets — and in true EVOL style — cut and paste his signature photographic architecture prints to the surfaces. The rural city is of a lilliputian scale, but is navigable by the average man and woman on foot.

The installation speaks volumes about the destruction of nature in favor of the sometimes ugly and unmoving aesthetic that comes with urban development and sprawl. In his rural city, the relief only comes above the ruins with the former meadow creating a green escape likened to garden roofs.

Once the festival is over the project can be easily infilled with dirt and heal naturally.
