Gallery: Artist Painstakingly Assembles Thousands of Puzzle Pieces into...

Nothing is worse than working on a puzzle for three days only to find a handful of pieces missing – but if you find them under the couch after years, you may not know what to do with them. Artist Rupert McKelvie takes that frustration and waste and turns it into something new and complete. The Devon-based furniture designer has painstakingly assembled thousands of orphaned puzzle pieces into this amazingly intricate table.

McKelvie put hundreds of hours into this fascinating project. Trained as a classic boat builder, the designer has managed to turn the flimsy pieces into something that appears quite stable and functional. This is sustainable art and upcycling at its most creative (and tedious?)
