Gallery: Artist Stephen Williams Creates a Quirky Bike from Two Antique...

The unexpected design of a locked-gate bicycle is an awesome invention.

This unexpected locked-gate bicycle is an awesome invention by artist Stephen Williams. As fanciful as it is fun, the bike is sculpted from a bizarre combination of objects that give a couple of old gates a more mobile lifestyle. Imagine how much attention you’d get cycling this mad machine down the street!

Williams often crafts these kind of brilliant (but admittedly impractical) masterpieces, making the most of the funny side of his weird and wonderful imagination. The eccentric contraption has a nostalgic edge, and would make for a brilliant Quentin Blake illustration.

Yeah, just park that personified fence in-between a couple of shrubs and others could lock their bikes to it. But to be more practical make a bike that puts a person head first, on their stomach and looking down in a relaxed position while using some kind of heads up display, probably with mirrors to see forward. Oh, add a flywheel where a person could just plug it in at night, then in the morning or after work, they could just use that built up kinetic energy.
