If you’re strolling around the streets of London today, make sure to keep an eye out for one extraordinarily green phone booth. Local artist Andrea Tyrimos painted the booth located at 79 Southampton Row to complement a living wall previously installed by urban greening specialists, Treebox. As a result of the collaboration, the Living Box installation will serve as a reminder to all Londoners of the many positive effects of vegetation in urban settings.

Treebox has already installed a lush green living wall on one side of the old phone box, but Tyrimos continued the green-themed party by painting the upcycled phone box with traditional oil and paints. The artist will not only leave a new urban art installation in the neighborhood, but one that reminds people to demand more green space for their city.

The Living Box vegetation, both real and painted, creates a sense of good health and wellbeing while demonstrating how green space can improve air quality. The artist also invites visitors to look into the phone booth at the painted constellation of stars, something that could be seen in real life if London had better air quality.
