Most people don't realize that solar panels produce very little current. The surface area of the car would contain so few solar cells that they would not be able to charge a 400 volt battery. The extra weight of the solar cells would REDUCE the range of the car. This is why solar cars do not have solar panels on them. The exception would be a solar racer, which contain NO batteries, and work only if the sun is shining on them. No good for a daily commuter car.

Wonderful that their factory uses solar, but why no solar panels on the car? Most cars sit a long time parked under the sun, and drive in sunlight too. We as consumers need to demand that all cars have factory installed solar panels at least as an option.
