The solar energy designers at Rawlemon have created a spherical, sun-tracking glass globe that is able to concentrate sunlight (and moonlight) up to 10,000 times. The company claims that its ß.torics system is 35% more efficient than traditional dual-axis photovoltaic designs, and the fully rotational, weatherproof sphere is even capable of harvesting electricity from moonlight.

The Sierra Club has created this fun map that depicts U.S. National Parks as if they were stops on a nationwide subway system. The awesome cartography depicts separate “regional” lines that host national parks, like Yellowstone and Yosemite, as well as less famous destinations such as the beautiful Congaree in South Carolina and the Petrified Forest in Arizona. If only there really were such a simple way to visit all these beautiful places by rail!

Br+a+ce’s pedal-powered Mobile Farm Stand has been designed to bring fresh food to neighborhoods with inadequate access to fruit and vegetable providers. Curiously described as a “transformers-meets-food cart mashup with a modern design pedigree”, the first prototype will be launched this August in Mattapan – a Boston neighborhood where accessing farmers markets and fresh produce is not always so easy. On the Plaza Luis Cabrera in Mexico City, two 1960’s Mitsubishi trolleybuses have been permanently parked for public use as part of a larger arts initiative in the Roma, Condesa and Hipodromo districts of Mexico City. The gutted and repurposed trolleys currently serve the city as vibrant spaces that engage residents and visitors in new art and cultural activities.
