Our fascination with prefab buildings knows no bounds — but add bamboo to the mix and you’ve really got our attention. These two beautiful houses in Hawaii were recently built using bamboo as the main building material. The total construction time? Two days.

Let’s say that you found yourself in a possession of a lovely site with an old and dilapidated house. What is the green thing to do? Well, the Riddel Architecture team of David Gole and Emma Scragg decided to take the old house, dismantle it, and create an entirely new one with the materials from the replaced house. Spotted on Dexigner, the resulting Hill End Ecohouse reuses almost 95% of the existing building materials and features photovoltaic and solar-thermal arrays, a rainwater recycling system and smart climate-oriented design.

The Royal Victoria Docks in London are bursting with development, and we were excited to hear that the latest tower to take hold boasts some extraordinary eco features. Designed by Studio RHE, the Silvertree is a 24-story skyscraper wrapped in a shimmering photovoltaic skin that is interspersed with lush vertical gardens. Slated for completion in time for the 2012 Olympics, the building will also feature a ground-source heat pump and an on-site biomass energy generator to round out its array of carbon-cutting features.

While overlooking the potential location of the Nunnmps office in the outskirts of Chicago, architects from Cheungvogl wanted to minimize the project’s footprint as much as possible and preserve the site’s natural state. Their solution was to take two thirds of the building and put it underground. As for the rest? Well, they decided to put it on stilts.

German Architecture firm Raumlabor-Berlin has created an incredible inflatable pavilion that will be popping up in parks throughout London this summer as a mobile event space. Dubbed Portavilion, the futuristic-looking bubble building sets up in a snap and can be easily deflated and packed up after each event, saving on the manpower and resources required to erect a standard stage.

The sleek scooter-like pod is an EV that showcases Honda’s latest research into compact urban vehicles. Lotus recently unveiled its Evora 414E Hybrid concept, a sleek supercar that looks ready to take on the fabulous Tesla Roadster. Lotus has impressed us in the past with green technologies ranging from the omnivore engine, to the Eco Elise, and it looks like they are ready to get serious about fuel efficiency. Set to be debuted at the Geneva 2010 Auto Show, the vehicle has an extended range of 300 miles and features two electric motors capable of rocketing the vehicle from 0-60 in 4 seconds.
