This year the American Institute of Architects in San Francisco kicked off the AIA Home Tours with an excellent architect’s forum held at the new, cutting edge Autodesk Design Center at One Market. The Autodesk Gallery provided a highly interactive venue, featuring some of our favorite international, award winning projects designed with Autodesk software. In fact, walking the room feels a bit like Inhabitat’s virtual reality come true, as many of the innovative designs we feature here are on display in the Gallery.

From Spark Award winners to models of the CA Academy of Sciences and SOM’s Cathedral of Christ the Light and Yves Béhar’s OLPC, the Autodesk Gallery offers an immersive design environment backed by HD projections on the walls. Perched in the mezzanine level of the former Southern Pacific Bell Building, the design of the Autodesk Gallery is equally dynamic, as Anderson Anderson Architecture collaborated with McCall Design Group, DPR Construction, and HOK Architects for an Integrated Project Delivery process.

At the forum, we mixed, mingled and got sneak peaks at this year’s incredible lineup of AIA Home Tour choices. Stay tuned this week as we be present some of our favorites, focusing on the most sustainable environmentally and socially responsible projects.

Just curious, were there as few women at the venue as represented in the pictures?
