The Mirror House is a minimalist structure [2] clad in heat-treated wood and shutters that promote natural ventilation [3]. At night the shutters are closed. At both of the gabled ends of the 140 square meter pavilion and inside, behind the doors, are funhouse mirrors [4] made of polished stainless steel that not only create exciting distorted images that keep kids occupied for hours, they also reflect the surrounding, tranquil park.

Whereas previously the graffiti-covered structure may have made the playground a foreboding place to spend time, this new project brings a whole new reflective dimension to the park – completely respecting the site in which it was placed. We’ve seen some cool pavilions before, but this flexible space for kindergarden kids is one of our new favorites.
