In the midst of the Ark Hills concept center in Japan, garden designers from Azuma Makoto Gardening Club are regularly working on new designs to reshape green centerpieces in the heart of the Mori building complex. Alongside the Ark Gardening Club – a brilliant community project to encourage people to learn about species diversity and possible rooftop gardening processes – serious garden designers have been recruited by the Azuma Makoto project to renew modern garden designs.
The most recent design by Takeharu Sugawara combines angular sections of strong colors within a triangular bed. With simple formations the designers show how much creativity can go into shaping a simple raised bed, and how it can maintain a contemporary twist that can then be changed and transformed like a renewable artistic platform.
