Azuma Makoto Gardening Club Brings Modern Design to Japanese Concept Center

In the midst of the Ark Hills concept center [5] in Japan, garden designers from Azuma Makoto Gardening Club [6] are regularly working on new designs to reshape green centerpieces in the heart of the Mori building complex [7]. Alongside the Ark Gardening Club – a brilliant community project to encourage people to learn about species diversity and possible rooftop gardening processes – serious garden designers have been recruited by the Azuma Makoto project to renew modern garden designs.

The most recent design by Takeharu Sugawara combines angular sections of strong colors within a triangular bed. With simple formations the designers show how much creativity can go into shaping a simple raised bed, and how it can maintain a contemporary twist that can then be changed and transformed like a renewable artistic platform.
