Designer Chen Chun-Hao and artist Huang To-En have come up with a great application for one of the most renewable resources around – bamboo [1]! In a series created for the Yii Collection [2], these lightweight ‘Ming’ bamboo glasses call upon the refined and subdued aesthetic of the Ming Dynasty, fusing the modern with past in an unconventional way. The hinge has been specially designed and patented by Huang To-en, and given the strength of bamboo, we’re guessing these specs can take all the chewing, dropping and pocket-crushing pressure that boring plastic frames would crack under.
