Designer William Lee and Young Stellar Object have created A Glacier Adrift, a set of hand-crafted soaps that call attention to the dire threat of climate change. Inspired by the massive bodies of melting glaciers & icebergs in the Arctic, the soaps are shaped like angular pieces of ice that gradually dissolve with use. The “melting” hand soaps provide a daily visual reminder that our actions have irreversible effects on the environment. “When you hold it, it looks & feels like a precious jewel,” says Lee. “It’s something you want to guard, something you want to protect. Delicate yet designed to be used, designed to be washed and dissolved away. One day that glacier will be gone. If we take a step back, the broader message here is to simply use less. We rely on the planet’s resources for our own gain and easily forget about the consequences.” The iceberg-shaped soaps can be purchased in Young Stellar Object’s shop.
