The sustainable details of the house sound like a great use of passive systems. However, I hope they also have some kind of rainwater harvesting system for irrigation of that emerald carpet of sod, or better yet, take it out and use some of the beautiful species of grasses that are native to the Colorado landscape, particularly if the homeowners are "nature lovers". There is nothing natural about the lawn...and water is a big issue in Colorado!
