Working in conjunction with NEX Architecture, Barnett took a deeply scientific approach to the project. Using computer algorithms that mimic the growth of plants, the team came up with a structure based on modular cells.

Like the old ride at Disneyland Adventure Through Inner Space where you shrunk in scale to see the world of the very small the Times Eureka Pavilion takes us deep into the structure of a leaf. Working in conjunction with NEX Architecture, Barnett took a deeply scientific approach to the project. Using computer algorithms that mimic the growth of plants, the team came up with a modular structure.

    I really enjoy good solid architecture when I see it because it is the consequence of a process of conscious analysis and creativity and the end product delivers a clear functional and beautiful message to final user and the environment where it belongs, and this is a wonderful example of it.
    I can’t say the same about a lot of examples where published today where form is above all considerations, thanks to popular good abused 3D Cad Software. This new trend in contemporary design should be called “3D Sculptural Architecture” and will last, I hope, the same as Neoclassic architecture RIP .

    This is a very interesting building! I would love to see it from the inside.

    I saw something similar in the structure of the Petronas Towers when placed side by side Karl Blossfeldt’s photogravure, plate #3.
