Earlier this year, Inhabitat covered GreenPIX , Simone Giostra’s groundbreaking Zero Energy Media Wall in Beijing. Recently ScribeMedia Arts & Culture released an excellent interview where the architect explains how he pitched the proposal to the client and developed the concept and installation. Giostra describes the GreenPIX wall as a form of “dynamic architecture” made of “hardware, software and content”.

The GreenPix media wall was applied to the curtain wall of Xicui Entertainment Complex in Beijing, near the site of the 2008 Olympic Games. The building opened to the public on June 24, 2008, showing video installations produced by artists from China, Europe and the US. As the first photovoltaic system integrated into a glass curtain wall in China, the building harvests solar energy to become a self-sufficient organic system.
