Located in the eclectic Friedrichshain neighborhood, the bright red double-decker is parked amongst a complex of artist studios and nightclubs. The entire first floor of the vintage mobile (which is sixty years old!) has been converted into the restaurant’s kitchen. Opening onto the parking lot in which it is parked, guests can order tasty sandwiches (with vegan friendly options!) from the side of the bus, which has been cutaway to form a counter.
Diners can enjoy sandwiches and drinks at all hours at the picnic tables out front, which are surrounded by plant beds and shaded with umbrellas. Guests can also climb the twisting steps inside and dine in the twenty four seat dining area upstairs. Retro furniture, Astroturf and a pop-art patterned floor are paired with energetic music, sometimes played by a live DJ. Thanks to its former life as a double-decker tour bus, the second floor roof can also be retracted to reveal an open-air sun roof for hot and sunny days, transforming it into a scenic balcony that overlooks the art complex adjacent to hektikfood.
Aside from serving up tasty treats, the bus can also be rented out for private parties and events, bringing both a cozy event space and catering to all areas of Berlin.
