One of Berlin’s most beautiful assets is its vast amount of green spaces and community gardens, which include Prinzessinnengarten and this spectacular retreat in Tempelhof made from recycled materials. The Öffentliche Grünanlageand was one of the last projects of the former East redevelopment area of Kottbusser dam, and took two years to be constructed. It is mainly used by neighbors as a recreation area for gatherings, casual picnics and for collecting some free fresh food for dinner, en route home.

A series of seats made from stones and wood connect the garden’s two levels while creating some space for contemplation and the appreciation of scents. Raised on a wooden platform, the prefab garden’s pavilion is mainly made from wood and has facilities for holding small events inside. Is the perfect space for making dinners from the garden’s produce, has lots of natural light pouting in from the vertical windows, and offers shelter during extreme hot or cold weather.
