Isn’t it great when you don’t have to sacrifice beauty for sustainability? Case in point: Bio-Glass, a striking material made from 100% post consumer recycled materials. Reader Jacostarubio just tipped us off about it saying:

Bio-Glass offers a clean technology hard surface material without compromise on aesthetics. 100% recycled glass: no colorants or other additives. 100% recyclable: can be placed into the same recycling container as drink bottles. Post consumer recycled content may help contribute to LEED® credits with USGBC project certification.”

So what exactly is Bio-Glass made of? It may be hard to believe, but the almost marble-like material is made from 100% recycled glass (from different waste streams like bottles, old plates, etc.) pressed together into slabs. Just think – you could have a bartop made from crushed up beer bottles!

Thanks for the tip Jacotarubio.

How do you know it’s going to be more expensive? Did you see something on their website I didn’t?

So because it’s “green” “bio” and “eco friendly” it’s going to cost 4 times more than a regular great looking counter top?
