Fahz lets you turn your loved ones’ faces into a vaseIt's your face - in a vase! The brainchild of Nicholas and Martha Desbiens, Fahz is a way for you to turn your loved ones' profiles into a one-of-a-kind, 3D-printed vase that reveals different faces as you rotate it. If you'd like to see this fascinating project in person, come check it out at this year's BKLYN Designs furniture festival on May 8-10 at the Brooklyn Expo Center.
"This project began as an overly ambitious Mother’s Day gift," Nick, who has a background in architecture and computational design, told us. "Last year, rather than designing a single vase, I decided to make a generative vase design system utilizing customized software (Rhino, Grasshopper, Python, Processing, etc.) to produce a detailed parametric model."
Martha was delighted to receive Nick's unique gift, especially after she realized that it portrayed her face, Nick's face and the faces of their two children. Soon the Desbiens' friends and family took notice and began asking how they could get personalized vases of their own, so Martha and Nick decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign to make their beautiful Fahz face vases available to the world.
The campaign has since ended (with funding of 6x their original $10,000 goal!), and now the Desbiens will be bringing their Fahz-making technology to BKLYN Designs. So if you'd like to score an awesome customized vase of your own, visit them there and stay tuned to see how you can win a free Fahz in the Inhabitat BKLYN Designs Scavenger Hunt.
