Post-Sandy, Flood-Proof Prefab Beach Structures by Garrison Architects

Garrison Architects has designed flood-proof, prefab beach buildings to replace NYC beach structures that were destroyed during Hurricane Sandy. After the storm wiped out the lifeguard stations and public bathrooms on many of New York City’s beaches, the city knew it needed a more sustainable and resilient way to rebuild. To accomplish this goal, architect Jim Garrison, who has been designing buildings for the city for over three decades, was called in to design 50 new beach structures. The new, modular beach buildings will be opening on Memorial Day.
