We are perennial fans of Brooklyn-based Brave Space Design, and not just because their pieces helped turn the Inhabitat-curated Green Room at Designers & Agents into a sustainable style eco-haven this week. We adore Brave Space for their fresh, fun, multi-functional eco designs that are driven by a “think global, design local” philosophy.
We’ve just discovered Brave Space’s new Light Block lamps, which will debut at BKLYN Designs this weekend. Made from FSC-certified walnut and 3 Form EcoResin, these modern lighting fixtures are definitely on our must see list in Brooklyn this year.
For starters, we’d like to get a close look at this new style of EcoResin in action, and are excited that Brave Space is using this innovation. This material is a non-toxic resin that uses 40% post-industrial reclaimed content. The translucent polyester resin is extremely durable, can be made in a wide variety of colors and seems to promise a range of applications for interior decor. EcoResin also meets GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality standards, which makes it even more appealing.
Of course, it’s the translucent quality of EcoResin that’s got our attention. And the way that Brave Space Design has used it to our advantage by creating organic graphic patterns within the light and shadow play. Or, in the words of the designers, to “combine with the wooden texture of the walnut cube to produce a modern wilderness.” Whimsical, modern and innovative, we are definitely looking forward to getting switched on to these lamps at BKLYN Designs this weekend.
