Blazing Fast Peugeot EX1 Concept is a Record-Setting Electric Vehicle

The Detroit Auto Show [4] boasted several awesome [5] electric sports cars [6], but here’s one noteworthy EV [7] that didn’t make an appearance, Peugeot’s EX1 [8]. Powered by two electric motors, one attached to each axle, the EX1 has an impressive 340 horsepower. The super sexy EV concept debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and has gone on to break six speed records for electric vehicles [9].
French explorer Nicolas Vanier [10] and Chinese blogger Han Han [11] drove the vehicle during the record-setting event, which took place at China’s Chengdu military airport in the province of Sichuan. Officially, Han Han blasted the previous records for the eighth mile sprint and the quarter mile run with respective times of 7.0862 seconds and 12.6754 seconds. Vanier established a new unofficial record for the 0 to 100 kmh (0 to 62 mph) sprint for an electric car with a time of 3.49 seconds. In total, the EX1 matched or surpassed five previous records set by electric vehicles [9] during the event.
