Coming Soon: BKLYN DESIGNS

by NK

Once again, BKLYN DESIGNS is back, kicking off New York’s Design Week 2006, and will be going on May 12-14. For three days, new and practiced designers alike will be showing their latest furniture, home accessories, and textiles, such as those from artist and rug designer Amy Helfand shown above. If you have the opportunity, be sure and come by the DUMBO neighborhood, which is hosting the show as well as other gallery openings and parties. Other events include lectures and talks headed by design leaders- “Design Like You Give a Damn” by Cameron Sinclair is not to be missed.

To be an exhibitor, entrants must go through a juried process- which is no small feat in itself. Over 50 “made in Brooklyn” ventures were chosen for the show, varying from our own favorite Scrapile, to Purekitchen’s hemp and bamboo kitchen designs, to the whimsical ceramics of Perch.

We’ll be profiling a few of our favorite designers’ wares in the next few days. For more information, be sure and check out the lists of exhibitors and events.

The show will be on all weekend, so be sure and stop by if you live in the area!
