Many prefab home designs are geared toward the second homeowner who's has available property and a dream of getting away from it all. However Blu Homes just unveiled a new version of their Balance home that is proportioned to serve as a primary residence. Designed expressly for street facing, urban infill and narrow suburban lots, the Balance Metro features the same great, green design, but now it's laid out for city living.
Addressing the needs of city dwellers and families looking for their primary residence, Blu Homes reconfigured their Balance prefab to better fit into a narrow infill lot. The Balance Metro is oriented to address a street-facing lot with a kitchen placed at the front of the house, and a more private living area towards the back on one side. Bedrooms and an optional office space line the other side, with repositioned deck space coming out from the back. All in all, the Balance Metro comes in at 1,878 sq ft with a 65’ x 36’ footprint and three bedrooms and two baths.
The home features an open floor plan living and kitchen space accented with 16’ ceilings, clerestory windows, sliding glass doors and loads of natural light. As with the rest of the Blu Home line, the Balance Metro comes with all the same great eco options, energy efficient envelope and systems. Also standard in the homes are motion sensor water-saving faucets, triple-paned energy efficient windows, WiFi enabled thermostats, zoned heating and cooling, and air filtration systems with HRV. Clients can also tack on electric car plug-in hubs and wireless multi-room Sonos® sound systems. Pricing for the Balance Metro begins at $355,000.
