It’s been a while since we talked about compact habitats, but it’s one of our favorite topics. Efficient use of space is the best way to maximize your living quarters. It helps you conserve resources, keep your life organized, and enjoy clutter-free surroundings. Bonbon Trading‘s got compact down pat with their Doc sofa/bunk bed unit. The single couch swings easily into two separate spots for resting your weary head. That’s smart furniture. Bonbon’s materials are not quite as smart as their designs. Though ease of use and economy of space bode well for an efficient lifestyle, Bonbon might do well to adopt some more sustainable materials. We certainly hope green thinking infuses Bonbon, because their modern rendition of the classic Murphy bed — and new incarnations of the “wall bad” style — are downright brilliant. Add a Convertible Kitchenette from Vestal Design and a Living Unit by Andrea Zittel, and you could break records for spatial efficiency.

Great idea!!!
I am moving into a small town home and would like to know where I can purchase one of these!

How much? Where can i order? Are there any stores in florida?
How much and where do you get it?
I have seen your advertisement in one of my recent magazines. I think the whole concept of your office/extra bed is fabulous. Question 1) what is the cost and sizes available; 2) do you have a catalogue I could receive? on line?; 3)of what material is the mattress made and how deep is it?; 4)where is it available in the US?
I am also interested in the price of this sofa bunk bed but I see from above that you have not responded. I am also interested in whether there are any U.S. Retailers.
thank you. Maureen A. Booth
do they have any retailers in the U.S. and what does it cost? if not any retailers in the U.S. how much does it cost to have it shipped out here? I really like it and if they have any other cool furniture like that you should post them!

Totally cool idea for young apartment dwellers. Flimsyness will become an issue if this piece of innovative furniture hits mass market.
How much does this cost?
Love it, but this and other similar designs always look a bit flimsy to me.
Wow. Against the proposed question of smaller living quarters and their comfortability, this is the answer. This design should be readily available, simply because it responds to the question “how much space do you really need.”
I don’t know who made it first, but they have somthign very simmilar at mobelform:

They had an ad in a recent issue of some design magazine, they have some stores in Florida, I know they have a store in DCOTA in the Ft. Lauderdale Area.

I really like this, on top of being space efficient, it seems to use less material than your traditional pull out couch. It doesn’t look like you can get it in the states though.
Somebody’s got to tell me where I can order one of these. Better yet, are there any retailers for BonBon furniture in the US?
Interesting, maybe now this will lead into more inovations. But as I’ve said earlier, social change in thought also needs to be inovative and allow for change.
