Beer Can House Has 50,000 “Bottles of Beer” on the Walls

Do you pride yourself on being able to drink a lot of beer? Well if you ever plan on amassing tens of thousands of empty cans of booze (or soda, teetotalers need not be left out), consider building a monument akin to what John Milkovisch, a retired upholsterer, calls his home adorned with reclaimed materials. Ripley's Believe It or Not estimates that over 50,000 cans are included in this Beer Can House - they're in the walls, swaying from the front porch, and pretty much everywhere else.
Milkovisch began the project in 1968 by inlaying marbles, rocks, and metal pieces into the house and plot, creating unique landscaping features. After the whole front and back yards were completely covered, he decided to add aluminum siding made of – you guessed it – aluminum beer cans to the walls. He even crafted decorative garlands out of beer can tops to hang from the front of the house. The addition acts as a windchime and works to lower the family’s energy bills.
So does one brand of beer dominate the house? John says many varied types of beer that John, his neighbors and his wife, Mary, drank were used, and that his favorite beer is always “whatever’s on special”.
