Interested in sustainable design and looking to go back to school for further study? Whether you’re interested in a full Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or just looking to brush up on your sustainable design knowledge through online courses, the Boston Architectural College (BAC) offers the most comprehensive sustainable design curriculum of any accredited college or university. The 120-year-old design school, in Boston’s historic Back Bay, offers degrees in architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and design studies on campus. It also offers over 30 half semester, online graduate courses as part of the Sustainable Design Institute at the BAC’s graduate certificate program, or as electives in the BAC’s low residency Master of Design Studies in Sustainable Design degree.
While American students in these programs come from across the US, approximately twenty-five percent of the students in both the certificate program and the Master’s degree come from outside the United States. Students from across the Middle East, the Americas, Africa and Asia all enter the programs looking for knowledge that will allow them to “bring sustainable design to my country.” These students and their American classmates come from a wide professional range as well. While about twenty percent are architects, the rest range from planners and developers to all of the design and construction professions, to advocates for sustainability. A number of students from outside the industry are seeking the knowledge and credentials which will allow them to join in global efforts to create sustainable communities.
What these students find at the BAC are small interactive classes taught by building industry professionals who are experts in the fields about which they are teaching. We all know that in the 21 century the challenges to our environment are global. The BAC is trying its best to ensure that the response to those challenges is also global. So, if you’re looking to brush up on your sustainable design skills or actually go back to school, take a look at this impressively green-focused school in the heart of Boston!
