Gallery: BUDGET BOONTJE: Tord at Targ...

Tord Boontje, Target, candelabra

If you’ve stopped by Target recently you probably noticed a new design star has joined the (increasingly groundbreaking) Target canon of hot-shot designers. We are excited to announce that one of Inhabitat’s all-time favorite designers- Tord Boontje- has decided to go the Target route and bring his enchanting designs to the masses for rock bottom Target prices.

Boontje debuted a new line of festive holiday tableware last week, making him the most recent participant in the retail chain’s growing number of collaborations with prominent designers. Now we can all afford Boontje’s charming take on traditional tableware. Viva la Target revolution!

You can read all about it in a nice interview at MoCo Loco.

This looks nice, but when will Target wake up and start selling sustainable goods, such as recycled or bamboo? I think a mass-market retailer could potentially bring the issue of sustainability to the forefront of the millions of average middle Americans.

    Hey AndrewkfromAZ-

Target DOES sell sustainable bamboo goods:

Of course, I would like to see them doing a lot more of this stuff, but its a start.
